Who is Todd Reed?
When I read Duct Tape Marketing, by John Jantsch, I was moved to tears. Goofy, but I was moved because I saw what I’d been looking for in a profession that I love. I had won awards and had seen success with B2B marketing. However, some things were missing: consistent results and consistent execution. With Duct Tape Marketing I found a system that has helped small B2B companies bring order to their marketing chaos.
I also found a system that reaffirms my belief that everything and everyone affects the marketing of a company. The Duct Tape system naturally, effectively, and systematically helps a company to do this. To me, Duct Tape Marketing does for marketing what the Great Game of Business does for finance. It democratizes and removes the mystery. It allows everyone to get on board and get excited about what the company is striving to achieve.
The companies that inspire me are the ones that strive to give their employees, customers and suppliers an experience that has personality, generates profits and inspires passion.
Some of those inspirations include:
- Zingermans
- The Republic of Tea book
- Trader Joes
- What Should I Do With My Life?
- Terry Gross and her show Fresh Air
- Hello, My Name is Scott!

And now for the more traditional, less emotional information:
College – University of Kansas Jayhawk, Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing, small business, and African American history.
I’ve held various positions since college in
- Customer & Line Service with corporate aircraft and aircraft owners
- Business Development with a family-owned B2B travel agency
- Marketing department of one for a family-owned electrical wholesale distributor
- National Marketing Manager for a Fortune 500 electrical and communications wholesale distributor focused on promotions, merchandising, and training.
Winner of 10 Best of the Best Marketing Awards from TED Magazine and NAED (National Association of Electrical Distributors). One of my most proud moments was winning the Best of the Best Overall award, beating out the regionals and national supply houses. So far, we’re the only small single-house distributor to win this.
